Mods as Examples: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Road Rash, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Wizards and Warriors, Ultima IX: Ascension, Neverwinter Nights & LIMBO

Hi! This post is about mod examples and how u can mod some of these games easily! These are not mods! Only examples!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (PlayStation):

Re-colored the castle and mountains and a brighter sky.

Been tested on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (USA) (En,Fr,Es)

Road Rash (PlayStation):

Just a re-color for the back of the jacket for only its 3 frame/sprites for testing purposes, been tested on Big Game Mode - Teflon Mike in Der Panzer Klub - Bulleting Board - The Peninsula section, but it probably will work on the others too, note that it's very unfinished as the game has lots of sprites for motor bikers, but it gives u the idea how to do it.

LIMBO:

This one's a special case in re-texturing, so it may work not at all for u. In settings in controls as u can see I managed to put my pic in there instead of the controller and the keys [the one with ctrl key in left is shown]. So I guess still possible for modding?

South Park: The Stick of Truth:

U can download the mod to see what files need to be changed to make ur own mod, this how u change the paintings, photo boards and posters in the game .U need SouthParkExtractor100 software to extract the .oaf files if u need to mod them urself. Go to Tom's Rhinoplasty to see me in there. :D

Neverwinter Nights:

Another example mod to show u how changing the portraits with NWN Explorer can be done, it will replace my picture with a male Elf's portrait which could be seen in other races too. Been tested on Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition GOG version but probably will work with Enhanced Edition too.

Wizards and Warriors:

It's time for Wizards and Warriors or Wizards & Warriors.

U can easily change the portraits of the characters and icons in this game, all u have to do is go to the game's folder and in "portrait" folder and replace them!

For example I've replaced a human male portrait with my own picture, download my test mod here to learn more:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-LsyIrqJZZGBV9Yby8IsparOmjzp0G8J/view?usp=sharing

Make a back up of Pchead01 in portrait and then extract my mod in ur game's folder, this way u can see that it will be changed with my picture.

Been tested on GOG version.

Ultima IX: Ascension:

Avatar's New Look

How to:

Download dgVoodoo v2.75 [older/other versions may work too] from here:

http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/bin/dgVoodoo2_75.zip

http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/

Extract dgVoodoo2_75 then go to MS/x86 and copy D3D9.dll into the game's folder, so TexMod can be used.

Then use TexMod to load the test mod.

Bug: sometimes the textures will be mixed or Avatar's face texture will be the default texture again [like when he is blinking], pretty random I guess and even his face's texture will be on other game's objects! As u can see I only tested it in the beginning of the game, but this is just another test mod so u can see the game can be texture modded!

Been tested on GOG version.

How To Section:

Neverwinter Nights

Extract my mod in ur Neverwinter Nights folder.

-

South Park: The Stick of Truth

Just extract the archive and put the Data folder in ur South Park folder. Delete it if wanted to remove it from ur game.

Or extract my mod in ur South Park folder.

-

LIMBO & Ultima IX: Ascension

Download TexMod v0.9b (Google it if the link didn't work anymore):

https://storage.googleapis.com/google-code-archive-downloads/v2/code.google.com/texmod/texmod.zip

How to use TexMod (a general guide for games with or without Steam, GOG or other launchers. It's just a copy paste for all of my mods for saving time).

Do this first:

Extract my mod then open TexMod and click on the yellow folder on top of it, select browse and select the exe of the game in ur game's folder. In Package Mode click on the yellow folder and browse my tpf file then hit the run button below.

If it didn't work do this then:

Rename the game's exe from the game's folder, put the Texmod.exe in that folder and rename it to that original exe's name.

Launch the game via Steam so TexMod will be opened instead, click on the yellow folder on top of it and pick the game's exe that u just renamed.

In Package Mode click on the yellow folder and browse my tpf file then hit the run button below.

Google "How to use TexMod with Steam games" for more info.

The best way to do is make a folder named "Mods" in ur TexMod folder and put all tpf files there.

Been tested on GOG version.

(PlayStation):

How to (this is a general guide for how to use RetroArch, a copy paste for all of my mods for saving time):

Run RetroArch once then extract and put mednafen_psx_hw_libretro.dll in the cores folder.

Load core the Beetle PSX HW and Load content to load a PlayStation game.

Then in command [above toolbar] choose menu toggle then options then choose the renderer as Hardware (vulkan) click ok, then ok again and quite the RetroArch.

Then go to the options again like before when loaded a game then go down to Track Textures and set it on and ok and ok again and restart.

Go all the way again to options when a game is loaded and set Replace Textures to on.

Then ok and ok again and restart [maybe it's not required]

Put my texture folder in ur game's folder and rename it like this:

Say if ur game's name is Crash Bandicoot, u copy and paste it [exactly like this] and put it before the folder so it becomes like this:

Crash Bandicoot-texture-replacements

Play!

After these steps u can use Import Content to load all ur games without loading core as it will be automatic, or u can use History or other functions too.

Note that u don't need to re-do all of these when u done it once, it will be applied for the other games too.

Also, if the textures didn't load when u loaded save-states, u gotta restart the game without loading the save-states so the textures can show up, enabling/disabling Replace texture in the game may work too.

It's been tested on RetroArch 1.9.1 & one of its cores (Mednafen's Beetle PSX HW) 0.9.44.1 9589ddd version, I don't know if it's going to work with the other versions...

Please note that at some point some of the plugins or specific versions of the certain emulators won't be available anymore, so asking their developers or waiting to be available again could be a solution.
